About Us

Serbian Social Services and Support Inc. was formed on the 18th April 1995 and was funded by the Department of Human Services and Victoria Health State Government. Five years ago, the funding was changed to the Department of Health through the Federal Government.

Our organisation was formed to assist frail, older people to participate in community life and feel socially included through structured, group-based activities, that develop, maintain, or support independent living and social interaction.

Since the organisation was established in 1995., with its two offices (Head Office in St. Albans and a Branch Office in Dandenong), it has been providing social support and advocacy for the elderly people of the Serbian community (and those closely linked, such as Slovakian, Macedonian, Hungarian, Bosnian, and other ethnic groups from former Yugoslavia).

The Serbian Social Services and Support Inc. is not a new organisation and has been managed by 10 community representatives over the years very successfully. The Committee of Management brings together many years of human service experience from community service, support, management, accounting, financial planning, and business expertise and community development.
